NEW! “The Knockers Project” Knit or Crochet a Breast Prosthesis – Wednesdays 6:00 – 7:30 PM
I am hoping to enlist some volunteer knitters to help me supply the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center with handmade breast prostheses. If you would like to help, please join me any Wednesday at 6:00 and I will help you get started! For knitters, we will use The Knitted Knockers Pattern. For crocheters, this Breast Cancer Survivor’s Pattern uses worsted weight yarn and a G hook. and will meet on Wednesdays from 6:00-ish – 7:30-ish in the front knitting room at the shop. Come, enjoy the comraderie and let’s work together to make a difference. Our current project is to knit breast prostheses for victims of breast cancer. More about “The Knockers Project” is available online – click here. Knit and crochet patterns are available at the shop. Boobies should be knit or crocheted in a soft, machine washable yarn – dk or worsted weight. Cotton and blends are best.
I am hoping that we can donate several “bags of boobs” to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center.
Friday Night Knits (& Crochets) ~ 6 – 8
Want to de-stress at the end of the week? Come on down and join us for “Friday Night Knits,” a social knitting group. We meet at PY&G (16 Brinkerhoff Street) from 6-ish to 8 PM when the shop closes. It’s great fun to get to know new people who share interest in the fiber arts. (By the way, crocheters are welcome, too!) You’ll get ideas for new projects and assistance if you are stuck on a certain stitch or skill.
Group knitting is free, all you have to do is show up!

Would like to take class beyond begnner oct 4 need to know time as i work from 8am till4:30pm
Right now, it would be 4:30 – 6:00. Do you work close to Downtown?
I signed up for the beginner’s knitting class starting Oct. 3rd. I just can’t remember what time the class starts.
The class is 6:00 – 7:30 PM. I look forward to it!
I need short row help! I knit socks two at a time. I prefer toe up. Many patterns call for a short row toe and I like te way they look. But I cannot seem to conquer this! Anyone that can show me where I’m going wrong would help immensely.
We are hosting a workshop on socks in January. Gretchen will show you toe up, short rows, different heels, etc. Details and registration is here: http://plattsburghyarnandgifts.com/knitting-classes/workshops-with-gretchen/
Hi Sue,
I definitely will knit some boobies for the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center. Unfortunately I can’t make it on Wednesdays nights, that is our open beading night. But I will make them and bring them to you. Is there a deadline or is this an ongoing thing. I will be down on Tuesday afternoon to get the correct yarn to use. See you soon.
Hi Devin, Thank you so much! It will be an on going thing. Hopefully, there will be less and less demand for them as time goes on.
